Hattiesburg Personal Injury and Criminal Defense

A Letter From Attorney Ray Price

I came to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, as a young attorney in June of 1993 to practice law. I entered into an office-sharing relationship with another lawyer in downtown Hattiesburg and soon began assisting with and handling trials and appeals in a wide range of civil and criminal matters.

In 1995, I formed a partnership with part-time municipal judge Johnny L. Williams: the first partnership of a black attorney and a white attorney in the history of Hattiesburg. Our practice thrived until January of 1997, when Mr. Williams was appointed as chancery judge by Governor Kirk Fordice. Since that time, I have maintained an active trial practice as a sole practitioner.

A Civil and Criminal Trial Practice

Over the past 18 years, I have tried thousands of cases in Mississippi state and federal courts. I have also handled dozens of appeals for people who were convicted of crimes in Mississippi. In association with other lawyers, I have handled personal injury cases across the South from Georgia to Texas.

I have handled virtually every kind of legal issue that an average person may encounter, including:

  • DUI and other types of criminal charges
  • Police misconduct claims, including those that are related to personal injury
  • Consumer fraud claims
  • Employment discrimination
  • Business disputes
  • Real estate disputes
  • Administrative law cases, such as appeals of workers' compensation claims
  • Ethics and professional responsibility
  • Probate litigation, including will contests and trust disputes
  • Immigration issues, including visas, citizenship and deportation defense

After Hurricane Katrina, I participated in the Orleans Parish program allowing qualified criminal defense attorneys who were not licensed in Louisiana to defend needy clients during that chaotic time. When I obtained an acquittal for one of my clients, the story was covered in the Times-Picayune.

I continue to handle selected pro bono cases for those in need in southern Mississippi. In the earlier days of my practice I frequently assisted chancery judges by serving in child custody and abuse cases as a guardian ad litem. Public service is important to me. Service to the Bar is as well, for several years I served by appointment of the Mississippi Supreme Court on a Complaint Tribunal that heard and considered complaints from the public about claims of unethical behavior of other attorneys.

Contact me today for a free initial consultation about your legal issue. My law office is located in downtown Hattiesburg, Mississippi, between the Post Office and the Forrest County Courthouse.

Sincerely,

Attorney Ray Price
